The natural world is forever in movement, and I try to continually evolve my practice in order to explore and discover the unnoticed within it. Whether that is creating screenprints that highlight and immortalise small lumps of glacier ice, waiting to melt on the beach in Iceland, or filming chaotic shadow movement in a forest closer to home, my aim is to show off the ordinary, in all its natural wonder and complexity.
I do this by using whichever method is at hand, and I comfortably move between, drawing, painting, screenprinting, video and installation.
Although I have lived in Fife for many years, I was born in Kirkcudbright, a small fishing town in the South West of Scotland, now a thriving Artist town. I have always chosen to live in close proximity to the sea, as the duality of water, in all its forms has always held great fascination for me.
After completing a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee, I have enjoyed being part of numerous group exhibitions both here and abroad. My first solo show, ‘In The Space Of Elsewhere’ was held in Kyoto, Japan in 2017. It was just prior to this that I started to experiment with installation and projections based on the natural environment. I began to harness nature itself to produce works, and I consider these interactions, as conversations with nature.
